The NFT ecosystem is an incubator for innovation. Although non-fungible technologies are still in their infancy, individuals are already deploying them to push the boundaries of what’s possible in art, technology, finance, community-building, and more. At this point, startling developments are being announced on an almost daily basis.
To honor the people driving these breakthroughs, nft now created the NFT100.
The NFT100 is an annual celebration of 100 influential creators and 100 community leaders in NFTs. It provides a comprehensive snapshot of the diverse talents who are redefining the nature of digital ownership and building a new creative economy. Today (June 21, 2022), we’re proud to announce the inaugural recipients.
To evaluate nominations and determine the final selections, our reporters used a holistic blend of concrete data points and culturally significant factors. Considerations included: NFT sales and volume across major marketplaces, social impact, innovation, history in the community, engagement and participation, and more.
This is obviously a wide spectrum of considerations. As a result, on this year’s list of honorees, you will find multidisciplinary artists who create incredible stop motion animations that blend generative music and sound. These creators appear alongside community leaders who are uniting their creative talents with NFT technologies to demand political and social change for the underserved.
And this is only the beginning of the diverse talents honored in this year’s NFT100.
The list of recipients also includes innovators whose technologies eased the onboarding experience and helped foster mainstream adoption of NFTs; researchers who created educational materials, databases, and other invaluable community resources; anonymous builders who experimented with novel forms of ownership, forcing us to reconsider how we think about intellectual property; and more — a lot more.
Apart from encouraging our readers to think about the incredible contributions of the creators and community members we’ve chosen, it is our sincere hope that this list inspires even more spirited and good-natured reflection within a community that is so diverse and so unique.
