Remember the once-beloved HTC smartphones? Well, here’s the good news—HTC is making a comeback with a metaverse phone. Recently, HTC teased the launch of its metaverse phone on Twitter. Releasing under HTC’s “Viverse” brand, the phone is set to debut on June 28. So let’s take a closer look at the new metaverse phone from HTC!
HTC first hinted at launching a metaverse phone at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in March this year. The news received mixed reactions from the company’s smartphone fans. As we know, HTC had brought the curtain down on its smartphone business in 2018.
However, it has continued to release mid-range phones, the last one being the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G released in 2021. While the company was supposed to launch the metaverse phone sooner, supply chain issues delayed the launch.
For now, there isn’t much information about the HTC metaverse phone. On June 9, the company simply posted an image saying, “Log in to the Future. 2022.06.28.” Further, it has yet to share the details of the phone’s specifications and features.
Currently, it is speculated that the phone will have a limited release. It is also likely to be available only in select markets.
To explain, Viverse allows users to socialise, hold meetings, and more in virtual reality. Based on the image HTC shared on Twitter, its upcoming metaverse phone is likely to be integrated with Viverse. How the company pulls off its ambitious plans remains to be seen.
